JibberJobber Still “the” Career Management Tool
Having made my way (virtually) around the job search/career management/employment space online, I’ve come into casual contact with a number of job boarders, recruiters, employment bloggers and others. But what struck me several years ago as a unique concept – an online “career management” tool – remains of interest even as other unique networking and job search tools are growing up on the Web each day.
Jason Alba, the creator of JibberJobber, is an interesting story himself. Having found himself without a job, then subsequently registering disgust (or at least disenchantment) with the job search process, Jason redefined how he wanted to approach the process of finding his next job/career. Ironically, that “redefinition” ensured that Jason never really did find his next “job” (at least not in the traditional sense). Instead, he started JibberJobber, a career management tool that originally (and still, no doubt), adhered to Jason’s concept of how career management should work.
I’m not recycling here, though I did originally write about Jason and JibberJobber on our Insourced blog (Insourced, by the way, is the very first job board we ever launched). Rather, this blog post is just to let the (currently few, but that will change) readers out there about JibberJobber – if they’re not already aware of it. It is my contention that Jason is “spot on” when it comes to the career management concept, seeing it as the larger process of properly guiding one’s career through multiple changes and naturally encompassing various elements that are common to those seeking jobs – the “job search” process itself, social and business networking, etc. JibberJobber is, essentially, the place where one keeps all of those individual elements organized.
It’s also worth checking out Jason’s blog, where he’ll expound on any number of topics that relate to job search, networking, career management, personal branding (etc.).
